National Walking Day - April 4th

Follow this route for a mile loop thru MUSC. Ashley Avenue, right on Calhoun, right on Courtney, Right on Bee and back to Ashley avenue.

Clear the Air

“Pitch The Pack” Freedom from Smoking Class begins April 19th.

This class will meet from 12:00pm-12:50pm weekly beginning Thursday, April 19th - May 31st. Our first class will be held in the Colbert Library room EL 102. After that we will be in EL 116.

Freedom From Smoking is a program developed by the American Lung Association that provides a group setting for adults to work through the quitting process. There are eight group sessions led by trained facilitators and physicians who are also MUSC employees. This clinic is open to all MUSC employees, students and spouses. Visit

MUSC Employee Fitness Series
A free circuit fitness class will be offered Weds. April 18th at 4:15 - 4:45 pm at the MUSC Wellness Center. Participants will also receive a free one-day pass to the Wellness Center. Mobile Mammograms: Looking for a convenient way to have your mammogram? The Hollings Cancer Center Mobile Van will be conducting mammograms April 18th behind the Clyburn Research bldg. Please call 792-0878 to schedule an appointment.

This screening, valued at about $350, is available to employees with the State Health Plan for only $15 (covered spouses can also participate for $15). Employees and spouses without this insurance can participate for $42. The screening includes: height, weight, blood pressure and a blood draw for a blood chemistry profile, hemogram, and a blood lipid profile. Farmer’s Market: Fresh fruits and vegetables are available from local farmers from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday in the Horseshoe and in the grassy area next to Ashley River Tower behind Charleston Memorial Hospital. Come sample the freshness of their products offered directly from the farmer

Happy Hour Healthies: 10-wk lifestyle change program designed with convenience and effectiveness in mind. Weekly classes meet on Thursdays 5:30-6:30 with professionals from the MUSC Weight Management Center and $98 fee can be payroll deducted. Please email browjosh@musc.edu for program to register.

Bone Mineral Density Screening: Offered FREE of charge to employees who are at risk for osteoporosis, including postmenopausal women not currently taking prescription medications for osteoporosis, who have not had a DXA screen in the last two years. Free Chair Massages: Free chair massages are offered to staff on some Tuesday evenings and during the day on most Wednesdays at various locations across campus. Make sure to check your broadcast message announcements for current times and locations.

Currently operates as membership-based local foods supplier called Kitchen Table Cuisine. Members (one time fee of $15) order on Monday by 10 am and pick up their order anytime after noon on Friday at the Wellness Center. Supplies local fruits, vegetables, breads, yogurt, milk, cheeses, pastas, soups, etc.

Our Local Foods is pleased to offer a members-only delivery service of locally sourced food items for healthy at-home meals to MUSC employees. Local farms, food purveyors, and producers provide a convenient way to enjoy fresh and healthy meals with the convenience of delivery to MUSC through the Kitchen Table Cuisine. The program offers vegetables, fruits, dairy products, grains, meats, pastas, cheeses, and even locally roasted coffee.
