Why Students Choose MUSC

2 interns at a wellness Wednesday booth
1. The Medical University of South Carolina is a teaching hospital of national recognition.

2. The Medical University is a Level 1 Trauma Center dedicated to treating the most severe injuries and life-threatening situations where interns will participate in “rounds” and interact with other medical professionals, including doctors and pharmacists.

3. This program allows interns to work with all age groups in a wide variety of exposures and health care settings. Interns will see patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, and from hosptials to wellness centers. A total of 22 different rotations and 8 different projects are conducted in over 11 different healthcare settings.

4. This program has highly-trained and supportive preceptors. MUSC's Nutrition Department employs over 20 dietitians, most of whom have advanced degrees and/or advanced level certifications. MUSC's Digestive Disease Center, under the direction of Dr. Mark DeLegge, also highly supports this program.

5. To date, our first-time RD exam pass rate is excellent, exceeding 93%.

6. All interns are based out of the same locality, allowing them to develop a peer group often working together in rotations and projects.

7.  Interns can utilize our mentored professional development program throughout their 10-month experience as well as long after they graduate.  This DI doesn't believe in stopping the educational process upon graduation! More details coming this summer.

8. MUSC Nutrition Department and affiliated programs often hire interns upon graduation.

9. This program is located in the historical and cultural city of Charleston, SC
