Certification, as defined by the American Nurses Association, is a process by which a professional organization validates an individual registered nurse's qualifications, knowledge and practice in a defined functional or clinical area of nursing. Certification is achieved through a nationally recognized examination offered through a credentialing agency such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). There are many specialty certifications available for registered nurses. A complete MUHA approved list is available below on the Human Resources website. MUHA also rewards current employees who achieve advanced or specialty certifications with a lump sum bonus.
