New Graduate Nurse Education

The new graduate registered nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital Authority receives a competency based orientation specifically designed to meet each individual nurse's needs.

The New Graduate Nurse Education (NGNE) Curriculum is a four (4) hour bimonthly presentation designed to enhance the new graduate registered nurse's orientation plan. 

Nurses at the MUSC Medical Center change lives by leading the region in providing expert care that transforms the healthcare environment to achieve excellent outcomes.

  • Enrollment:  All new graduate nurses hired participate.
  • Attendance:  Each new graduate nurse is expected to attend for twelve (12) months from hire date.
  • Dates:  Sessions are held the third (3rd) Wednesday every other month.  The 2010 dates are: January 20, March 17, May 19, July 21, September 15, and November 17.
  • Time:  8:00am-12:00pm
  • Location:  Storm Eye Institute Auditorium.  
  • Curriculum:  Topics vary monthly and are designed to enhance critical thinking and communication, patient safety, and evidence-based practice.
